A Question of Houses, or Am I Really a Puff?

I have been out of touch for a couple of weeks on this. I could say that I've been too busy to deal with it, or life got in the way, or I just couldn't think of what to write.
These would be lies.
The simple truth of it is that I just didn't feel like dealing with it. I let other things be more important than the commitment I made to keep this consistent, weekly blog.
Even while writing this one, I am watching The Office, and only typing a few words every five minutes or so.
To be fair, this is my first watch-through of the show, and I want to get through it.
I guess it shows where my priorities are.
Which doesn't make sense. Pottermore placed me in Hufflepuff, and I'm proud to be so!
The problem is that Hufflepuffs are supposed to be hard-working. How can I be a Hufflepuff without acting out the trait that the house is best known for? (Besides being particularly good finders)
Of course, Hufflepuffs are also notably loyal, fair, and kind. I believe myself to have those characteristics.
But to not be willing to work hard, even though I want to...it just baffles me.
But maybe it's not about what you are. It might be about what you value. Hermione was brilliant of course and should have been a shoe-in for Ravenclaw, but she valued friendship and bravery more than books and cleverness. Crabbe and Goyle were never very ambitious and certainly not cunning, but they respected the ones that were, which made them the Slytherins they were.
As for the house of the badger, we don't see many that don't exemplify the qualities Helga prized. Cedric Diggory, Nymphadora Tonks, and all of the Puffs in Harry's year are all exemplary examples of the house.
Perhaps Zacharias Smith, who is suspected to be a descendant of Hufflepuff herself, is the only one I can think of. He's documented as being selfish and obnoxious. However, he was, reluctantly, a member of the D.A., so he at least felt loyalty to Hogwarts.
What does all this have to do with me? I'm a giant Harry Potter nerd, that's what.
My point is, even if I don't always work as hard as I should, I do value hard work very much, and I want to do a good job. In my book, I think that's enough.
This turned into more of a rant or diary entry than a blog post by the end of it, though I think I needed that. If you have any words of wisdom, feel free to post in the comments section below.
For next week, I want a dragon to fight. Give me my Death Star. Make a suggestion of a seemingly insurmountable challenge to face, and post it in the comments section below.
