Not a Hurricane Hero

Today I am torn. Do I do a regular blog story for the responses I got from last week’s challenge about technology? Do I reach out and ask for blessings on those affected by Harvey? Initially I thought I would do both.

Life had other plans for me. I found out while still trying to decide on today’s post that my National Guard unit has been called to the relief effort.

I know that everything will be done to keep us safe as we are over there, but my mind can’t help but come up with scenarios where I end up dead trying to do something heroic, or someone else ends up dead despite, or because of, my efforts. This of course gives new meaning to title of my blog. I don’t know exactly what I’ll be doing, or even where exactly I’m going.

If you have the ability to help those in any way, do so. Prayers are always welcome. Offer up your home for people that have been transplanted.Make donations of whatever goods you can. Canned goods are an excellent example.

It turns out nature bugged out in a big way, and no amount of technology that we have could stop it. But how we respond to it is what makes us human.
